News from the Learning Team

2024 has been a busy year for the Learning Team and we’ve got some exciting developments to share with you and your students.

During the Summer term, we took receipt of our brand-new wheel change challenge kit. Using an image of the Monte Carlo Rally winning Mini EJB from our collection, we created a bespoke activity that tests students’ coordination, teamwork and communication skills. Teams race to beat the clock and change the wheel on the endurance race car in record time!

This activity can be added to our existing Engineering Apprentices workshop or booked as a standalone challenge and is suitable for KS2 to adult learners of all abilities and access needs.

Our Ready, Salt, Go! workshop has also received a refresh with the delivery of some exciting new 'dune buggy' style salt-powered cars! Suitable for KS3 upwards, these kits challenge students to follow instructions to build a circuit that’s fuelled by salt and magnesium. These kits can be taken back to school and tested again as they come with space magnesium strips - you just need to provide the salt!

The Jaguar D-type RC cars were looking a little 'well loved' and after 6 years of loyal service have gone for restoration. Their new bodies have been created by MNL of Bidford-on-Avon using cutting edge 3D printing and vacuum forming technologies. They'll be getting new decals and a lick of paint before getting back on road in September as part of our Engineering Apprentices workshops for KS2 and up.
