The British Motor Museum is inviting families to help celebrate the 100th birthday of the Austin Seven with 7 marvellous activities from the 22 July – 5 September. Visitors can uncover this great little car’s history and look at some of its exciting adventures with the chance to explore the new exhibition ‘Small car. Big history: 100 years of the Austin Seven’. Plus they can have fun with the new interactives, meet the Austin Adventurers for a fun family tour and complete their visit by making an Austin Seven to take home.
The new exhibition is a celebration of this small car that made a big impact on Britain’s motoring history. With the fascinating stories of 7 Austin Sevens along with some fun interactives, from a fabulous photo opportunity to a racing game, this exhibition has something for everyone.
The Austin Adventurers Family Tour takes place every day at 11.30am when families can meet Adventure Annie and explorer Dr Edmund Deadrock to discover the stories of the cars in the collection that have been on exciting expeditions.
The Austin Seven Jigsaw Trail runs all day, every day for children to create their own Austin Seven. They can pick up a jigsaw and explore the Museum to find the different pieces. Children can also make their own cardboard cut-out of an Austin Seven with lots of colours and decorations to choose from.
Emma Rawlinson, Life Long Learning Officer at the British Motor Museum said “We’re delighted to be celebrating the Austin Seven with seven fun activities for all the family. The car was produced from 1923 until 1939 and nicknamed the "Baby Austin". At the time it was one of the most popular cars produced for the British market. Our special family tours and craft activities will help bring this special car to life for the children!”
