The FE was the last Vauxhall Victor, launched from 1972 for a further four years in production, it was superseded by the VX series after nearly 20 years of the model’s name.
Slightly larger than its predecessors, the FE had a wheelbase of 105 inches. Changes to the shape of the side panels gave an increased interior space without losing any boot capacity. Increased size meant it needed more power, and although carried over from the previous FD range, the slant-four, OHC, engine was increased from 1759 cc to 2279 cc.
During the 1970s however, a world energy crisis combined with a reduction in exports meant that sales for the FE Victor fell short with only 55,000 units made before the VX series took over in 1976.
