J12 M40
British Motor Museum
The Series III Land Rover was introduced in 1971 and was mechanically similar to the Series IIa range but featured a new all synchromesh gearbox. There was also a new front grille, full width fascia body-style and a move towards greater comfort in interior furnishings. Instruments were now placed in front of the driver instead of being centrally mounted.
Series III production continued for 15 years. It was the last of the Land Rover 'series' models and during the lifespan of the Series III model, Land Rover produced its one millionth vehicle.
This particular vehicle was an export model and the final Series III Land Rover to be produced and came directly from Solihull.
