J12 M40
British Motor Museum
Launched in 1989 to fill the gap between Land Rover and Range Rover, Discovery was competitively priced between the two. It sold well both home and abroad and also won military contracts - vital to Land Rover sales. The interior design was also important, with the interior styling coming from not the automotive world, but from the consumer designer Conran.
This was the first off the line and has a three doors with diesel engine. It also has Land Rover four-wheel drive, providing strength, performance and comfort. A five door version was introduced in 1990.
