J12 M40
British Motor Museum
Launched in 2011 the MP4-12c was McLaren's first production supercar since the remarkable F1 of the 1990s. With a McLaren twin turbo V8 and a carbon fibre chassis, it has a top speed of 207mph and it reaches 60mph in just over three seconds.
Designed from a blank sheet of paper, it incorporated advanced McLaren technology such as ProActive chassis control, brake steer, and so on. The shape of the car was developed by a design team led by Frank Stephenson. As well as extensive road testing, the dynamics of 12c were perfected in a F1 simulator.
In signature McLaren Orange, PP7 was one of four prototypes and also the first to be tested by the world's press.
