The standard Mini Moke was simple and rugged, using the front-wheel drive and suspension of the standard Mini. Designed to suit the British military forces for a light four-person carrier that could easily be transported by air, the Moke was also available to the public as a fun, hard wearing vehicle.
To explore the cross-country potential of the Moke, a twin engine version with four-wheel drive was built in 1962 using two Mini front subframes complete with engines, one at each end of the vehicle.
With cost and complication outweighing the traction benefits, the twin-engine concept was soon dropped and the car was never manufactured.
