British Motor Museum
British Leyland built five experimental safety cars, unveiled in 1974. These cars featured many advanced features, some of which are taken for granted in current car design, while others have still to find production application. Based on a Marina, the specification of SRV2 included:
Strengthened structure with progressive crush front, smooth bonnet to avoid injury to pedestrians, low mounted 'soft' faced bumpers, strengthened door beams, padded interior, collapsible steering column, 'passive restraint' seat belts, head restraints, dual circuit brakes, and so on.
