The magic of the festive season is upon us! Here at the British Motor Museum, we’ve got everything you need to help you get into the holiday spirit!
Get stuck into an exciting creative challenge in Santa’s Holiday Hangar, designing and building a new sleigh ready for Christmas Eve! Then, embark on a hunt around the Museum, searching for those crafty runaway elves. You’ll have to keep your eyes peeled; these tricksters know how to make themselves hard to find.
On 20 and 21 December, Professor Pickle and Doctor Pumpkin have a fun Science Show to get you in the holiday mood; they’ll be looking into the science behind the season, with loads of exciting experiments, and a chance to join in, too! No matter how you want to bring out that festive feeling, there’s something to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.
All these activities are included in the price of admission, for a great value day out!
How does Santa get to all those houses in just one night? It all comes down to his sleigh. Just like building a car, building Santa’s sleigh takes imagination, creativity and a designer’s eye. Have you got what it takes to create your own sleigh, fit for Santa to deliver all those presents?
Step into the Holiday Hangar and design and build a sleigh from a range of craft materials to take Santa around the world. Will you design a fast sleigh, to get the job done quicker, or a big sleigh, to carry the biggest presents? Don’t forget the heater – it gets cold up there! Once you’ve finished, you can take your design home to display with pride!
Professor Pickle and Doctor Pumpkin are getting into the holiday spirit! As they decorate the not-so-secret lab, a question comes to them; What’s the science behind Santa’s sleigh?
Join them in the lab as they dive into a raft of holiday experiments to uncover the science behind the season. You can even enjoy the chance to get in on the action yourself. What will you discover?
We will be running an accessible show on 20 December, with gentler experiments to allow those who need a quiet atmosphere to join in the fun.
No need to pre-book, just sign up at the Family Activity Station when you arrive.
Suitable for all the family!
This Christmas, we’re looking for helpers to track down a group of mischievous runaway elves! These rebels without a Claus are up to all sorts of mischief around the cars. Put your finding skills to the test on our family trail as you search high and low through the Museum to track down all the plush elves hiding away amongst the cars, ticking them off as you go.
Once you’ve found all of these cuddly tearaway toymakers, head back to the family activity station to collect your reward sticker!
On 20 December, discover a day-long showcase of our accessible activities and initiatives, bringing a welcoming visitor experience to the widest possible audience, including an accessible festive Science Show! We'll even be keeping the Museum open later, to give everyone the chance to get in on the action.
Learn more about the day and what's on offer here.
NOTE: All activities are included in Museum admission. For these self-led activities, just drop by the Family Activity station to find out what is going on when! Activities are suitable for 5+ years with adult supervision unless otherwise specified.
