Join us on Access Day to enjoy a welcoming visitor experience for the widest possible audience.
The British Motor Museum is committed to being accessible to all, regardless of accessibility requirements.
This summer, the Museum's second dedicated Access Day of 2024 will be coming on Friday 16 August, showcasing the range of accessible activities and initiatives on offer. We’ll even be keeping the Museum open later, to make sure everyone gets the chance to experience what we have to offer.
All activities are free with general admission.
Sign up and join the Learning Team on one of our hands-on sensory Touch and Access Tours. These sensory guided tours bring the collection to life, allowing visitors to get up close to and touch a number of the cars in the Museum.
Sign up at the Family Activity Station and join the tour from the designated meeting point by the Museum Pay Desk.

On Access Day, we will be enabling those who need a quieter environment to enjoy our fantastic collection with Relaxed Hours from 9am-10am and 5pm-8pm. Audiovisuals and hand dryers will be switched off (paper towels will be provided), and we will be lowering the Museum's lighting.
During the day, we’ll be hosting Object Handling workshops, for the chance to get hands-on with a selection of artefacts. Take a dive into history and discover a variety of treasures from our collection that will provoke memories and encourage conversation.
A new permanent Changing Places toilet has been installed, thanks to grant funding provided by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities with support from Stratford on Avon District Council in association with Muscular Dystrophy UK. This new facility is designed to accommodate those with accessibility needs, with specialist equipment, such as a hoist and space for carers.
For the comfort of all our visitors, we offer SEND Bags, which can be lent out to visitors during their time at the Museum. SEND Bags carry a range of items to help make any trip to the Museum easier, including:
- Fidget Toys
- Museum Teddy Bear
- Magnifying Glass
- SEND-friendly Trails
- PECS Cards
We also offer a limited number of Sensory Bags, which include stress toys, magnifying glasses and ear defenders. Visit the Family Activity Station to request one on your arrival.
