Essential Carer/Companion

 Essential Carers or Companions are welcome to the Museum free of charge (FOC). We may respectfully request documentation disability /difference with one of the following documents:

- PIP/DLA
- Attendance Allowance (AA)
- Official document of their specific condition
- Access Card (sometimes referred to a CredAbility Card or Nimbus Card)

Parking

There is ample parking available on site for all visitors. Please follow the blue and white signs for accessible Museum Parking which will take you to the designated parking area. 

Parking on Show Days

On show days, our accessible parking is moved to the public car park to ensure the health and safety of all visitors. If you require any assistance, please inform a member of staff when you arrive on site and they can arrange for you to use our Blue Badge shuttle between your vehicle and the Museum Entrance when you arrive and leave.

Drop Off Point

There is a drop off point just outside the Museum entrance located on the left hand side of the road.

Wheelchairs

A limited number of wheelchairs are available free of charge from the Museum Pay Desk. If you require a wheelchair for your visit we recommend you contact us to check availability on 01926 895300 or email enquiries@britishmotormuseum.co.uk. We can then reserve the wheelchair once we have confirmation that you have purchased your ticket. Visitors are welcome to request a wheelchair upon arrival but we cannot guarantee one will always be available.

Assistance Dogs

Guide, Assistance and Hearing Dogs are welcome in the Museum and Collections Centre. Please ensure the dog is identifiable (using a harness, jacket or bright collar for example).

Induction Loops

Portable Induction Loops are available from the Museum Pay Desk or Conference Reception.

Quieter times

Quieter times - we are often quieter from 3pm–5pm on weekdays, if you would like to visit when there are fewer people around.

Ear defenders are free and can be collected from the Family activity station.

Step-free Access

The Museum has step-free access across the site, with level ground from the car
park to the main entrance, automatic doors for ease of access, well-situated disabled
parking and lifts covering both buildings. The exhibits have been arranged with
space to accommodate wheelchairs, scooters and pushchairs and no barriers, so
no one is excluded from the collections.

Toilet facilities

Accessible toilets can be found on all levels of the main building and downstairs in the Collections Centre.

Changing Places Toilet can be found in the Museum Rotunda, equipped with a hoist, an adult-sized changing table, and plenty of space for carers. The toilet can be accessed with a Radar Key, please ask at the Museum Pay Desk if you need to borrow one.

Baby changing facilities are on the ground floor of the Museum.

Touch and Access Tours

We offer sensory guided Touch and Access Tours of the Museum with one of our expert guides who can help bring our collection to life. Visitors can pre-book a tour by calling 01926 895295 (Mon-Fri) or emailing community@britishmotormuseum.co.uk.

Touch tours can be offered on the day but this is subject to staff availability.
